Disney World's Magic Kingdom Scavenger Hunt

There are so many things to do and see at Disney World's Magic Kingdom!  Every time I go I see another detail.  I think it's the combination of all these little things that make this park so magical.

Can you find these twenty-five special details at
Disney's Magic Kingdom?

Here are a few notes before you begin.  All of these can be found inside the gates of Magic Kingdom.  These photos are in random order, meaning that they might be located near one another in the park but not within the list.  While most of these can be found while simply meandering the park some will involve partaking in the attractions.  If you get stuck feel free to drop me a comment, either here or on Facebook, and I'll try to help you out!  Also, keep in mind that Disney is constantly upgrading and changing, so it is possible for these items to disappear.

How many did you find?  Did you like this scavenger hunt?  Was it too easy?  Too hard? Tell me about it in the comments!

In Threes Sweater with String Theory Hand Dyed Yarn

I received this yarn in exchange for an honest review.  All opinions are my own.

This knit sweater just might be one of my most favorite projects.  Ever.  The pattern, In Threes, is straightforward and easy to modify.  The yarn, from String Theory Hand Dyed Yarn, is absolutely amazing.  I have to admit, I had a difficult time using this yarn for someone other than myself.

The pattern, In Threes Baby Sweater, can be found on Ravelry.  It's quite the popular pattern.  Almost six thousand knitters have listed their projects on the site.  That's quite a lot!  I found it to be fairly simple.  I did make some adjustments to make it a little bit larger.  I want my daughter to be able to wear this as long as possible!  (Rather embarrassingly, I did not write down any notes as to how I upped the size, however, I'm sure it wasn't too difficult.  Maybe next time, because I will be knitting this pattern again.)

This yarn is awesome.  I really can't say enough good things about it.  It's Tinker Island Fingering from String Theory, Hand Dyed Yarn, INC.  It's a 2 ply 100% superwash domestic merino fingering weight yarn. The color is absolutely stunning.  I kept knitting until I used all 425 luscious yards of this beautiful yarn. I want more of the Tinker Island yarn.  Lots more.  Believe me, you want to give this yarn a try!

The buttons were from my stash, I'm pretty sure they were red tag items from JoAnn's, but I'm pretty sure that these are the same.  The buttons shimmer and change color in the light, which looks amazing with the blue yarn.

You can find String Theory Hand Dyed Yarn, INC at the following:

Have you knitted the In Threes Sweater? What did you think of it? Are you lucky enough to have been able to work with this yarn? I'd love to hear all about it!

I love sharing my projects around the blogosphere.  Here are some of my favorite link ups

7 Quick Takes: What I'm Reading This Week

This post contains affiliate links.

1. Blood of Olympus
The continuation of Rick Riordan's Percy Jackson series.  It's a fun mashup of mythology and modernity.  Technically, it's classed as Juvenile fiction, but at this point in the series I'd certainly say it's more geared towards teens.  (And awesome Moms, of course.)

2. The Elite
This is the second book in Kiera Cass's Selections series.  I read the first book based on a recommendation of a fellow blogger.  It's a teen dystopian (sort of) romance.  It's engaging and a fast read.

3. Spark Joy
Ok, technically I haven't actually started this book yet.  However, I am super excited because I just checked and I am only three holds away from getting it from the library!  Whoot!  I think I started at position 126, so that's real progress! It's the second book by Marie Kondo, of the Life Changing Magic of Tidying Up fame.  I read the first book and was inspired.  (It's not perfect, but it's good.)

4. Biggest Loser: Six Weeks to a Healthier You
I've been a Biggest Loser fan since the first season.  I think (just about) any show that can encourage and inspire healthier living should be applauded.   (When I re-read that sentence I started coming up with bizarre show concepts that could be pro-healthier living, but still not be something I would applaud.)  The continual rise of obesity in the US is disturbing to say the least.  Now that I'm in a non-pregnant and non-nursing stage of life again (for now) it's time to get back in shape.

5. Anne of Green Gables
I am reading the Illustrated Classic version aloud to Catherine.  I have owned this book since I was seven.  It's just alright, in my humble opinion.  There was quite a bit lost in the re-writing for this version, but Catherine does enjoy looking at the pictures.  When I was young, probably about twelve or so I was ecstatic to discover that there were more Anne-with-an-E books, including a better version (the real one!) of the book I read as a little child!  The whole set gets a prominent spot on my bookshelf.

(I don't actually own this set so I can't speak to it's quality, but there's a whole Anne of Green Gables Collection for the Kindle for only $0.99!  That seems to be a spectacular deal.)

6. The Winnie the Pooh Storybook Collection
This book was one of the kids' Christmas presents.  It was totally worth the five bucks we spent on Black Friday.  (Yep, Black Friday is good for more than just electronics!)

7. The Foot Book
Now that Chick-o-Saurus Rex has finally been returned to the library, this has been Dominic's number one pick.  Yesterday I read it 37 times.  I am so glad that Catherine can read it to him too.  I think she read it to him a dozen or so times yesterday.  (And at least three times while I was writing this post.)  A part of me never wants to say no to a request from my kids to read a book, but another part of me . . . well, you know.

The Julia Women's Cardigan

A giant thank you goes out to Mouse House Creations for giving me the opportunity to try out this pattern!

Do you have a sewing pattern that you just know you're going to use over and over again?  Or maybe you already have used it multiple times?  Well, the Julia Women's Cardigan by Mouse House Creations is one of those patterns for me.

Seriously, this pattern is awesome!  It's nice and easy to sew.  The directions are clear.  I'd call myself an advanced beginner and had no issues at all.  As you can see, I made the extended cap sleeve version (this time!), but there are instructions included for 3/4 length and full sleeves as well.  So many options!

The knit fabric is from Girl Charlee.  I'm digging the stripes, although someone might have commented that I looked like a pirate while wearing this particular version of the cardigan. . . .

I have set aside fabric for at least three more of these.  I'm hoping to cut one out during nap time today. The only question is do I make another extended cap sleeve or a 3/4 sleeve?

Have you made a Julia Cardigan? I'd love to see it!

WIPS: Fairy, Cherry Twist, and Mont Royal

A Fairy, a Cherry Twist, and a Mont Royal walked into a bar . . . just kidding, they're in this week's knit and crochet lineup.

The Fairy is a super late Christmas present for my daughter, which I think I will simply turn into a St. Valentine's Day surprise.  The Cherry Twist Hat is the second I've made, I was so happy with the first one that I cast on another one last night!  The Mont Royal is a project that has been languishing in my WIPS box.  After last week's realization that I have a problem with works in progress and blog post drafts, I've decided to pick one of each every week and finish them.

I will be sharing this post at Small Things and Frontier Dreams.

Cherry Twist Knit Hat with String Theory Hand Dyed Yarn

How do you like my new hat?

The Marshall Island Sport yarn that I received from String Theory Hand Dyed Yarn was really fantastic to knit.  It worked up really well!  The stitch definition is beautiful.  This stunning colorway is Sterling.  I love the ever so slight color variations.  It really brings the 100% Merino wool alive. I absolutely love this hat!  My daughter likes it too.  This particular project was selfish knitting, but since each skein has 350 yards of yarny goodness, I do have enough remaining to make her a matching hat.

The Cherry Twist Hat by Unravel Me is actually a really simple pattern.  It cleverly uses smocking-like stitches to easily create a complicated looking texture. In essence it's a basic knit two and purl two hat.  Now, I do have to say, I completely mis-read the instructions both the first and the second time around, so I did have to do a bit of frogging.  (In my defense, I was sick.)  If you're at all confused when reading the directions just remember that it is based around knit two then purl two.  (But you probably won't be confused, because the instructions really aren't confusing; I was probably just in my own little brain fog when knitting it the first -- and second -- time.)  The yarn looks brand new despite multiple froggings.  I've worked with some lower quality yarns that looked terrible after just one frogging.

Also, just in case you were wondering, we are not visiting Antarctica.  Do you know where we were visiting?  Take a guess in the comments!

Talk to me!  Have you used this yarn?  What were your thoughts?  Have you knit this hat?  Have you had to frog something that was the result of a silly mistake recently?

Please, show my wonderful sponsor some love!
